ELKHART COUNTY, IN - Two people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Elkhart County involving an alleged drunk driver, authorities said.
WBND reports the incident occurred Thursday at the intersection of County Road 19 and County Road 14 at about 1:35 p.m. According to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office, an intoxicated driver was behind the wheel of a 2013 GMC Terrain and crashed into the back of a 2021 Jeep Cherokee.
The impact sent the Jeep forward into a 2019 Subaru Ascent, causing the Ascent to then hit a Chevrolet HHR. The Jeep driver and Suburu driver were taken to Elkhart General Hospital with complaints of pain.
The sheriff's office said the GMC driver ran away from the crash scene, while the Chevrolet driver drove away from the scene heading west on County Road 14.
The GMC driver was later jailed on charges of OWI and leaving the scene of a personal injury crash. The driver of the Jeep was cited for never receiving a license.
