2 dead in accident involving semi-truck on Interstate 25 in Hatch

HATCH, NM - The New Mexico Department of Public Safety said an accident in Dona Ana County last week left two people dead.

A report by KFOX TV stated that the incident happened on Interstate 25 in Hatch on Thursday.  A semi-truck and another vehicle were involved in the crash shortly before noon.  The identities of the two victims were not immediately released.

Two other people were injured and taken to area hospitals.  The center lanes of I-25 were shut down in both directions for nearly two hours, and traffic was detoured onto New Mexico Highway 187.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the wreck.
