BATTLE CREEK, MI - Battle Creek police are investigating an accident last Thursday night that sent an 11-year-old boy to the hospital.
According to WWMT, the boy was riding a Coleman mini dirt bike on Ashland Avenue when he made a turn onto West Spaulding Avenue at about 7:15 p.m. Police said the boy was hit by a truck driven by a 41-year-old motorist.
The boy, a Battle Creek resident, was seriously injured and taken to an area hospital, where he was listed in stable but critical condition.
A witness told police that the boy disregarded a yield sign at the intersection, turned into the path of the truck, and was not able to stop in time to avoid the collision.
