INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Indiana State Police said a semi-truck and a car were involved in a fatal crash on the south side of Indianapolis on Thursday afternoon.
In a post on X at 3:28 p.m., WIBC Traffic reported that the accident occurred on southbound Interstate 65, and resulted in a fire. The interstate was closed between Southport Road and Emerson Avenue while police and first responders worked the scene.
One person was killed in the wreck, but there was no immediate word on the victim's identity.
Backups of at least three miles were reported, and drivers were advised to use US-31 as an alternate route.
