1 dead in crash after driver runs red light in Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Albuquerque police were dispatched to the scene of a deadly multi-vehicle wreck on Sunday evening.

A report by KOAT states that the incident occurred in the area of Eubank Boulevard NE and Menaul Boulevard NE shortly after 6 p.m.

Investigators determined that the driver of a westbound vehicle ran a red light at the intersection and collided with a vehicle headed south on Eubank Boulevard.  That vehicle struck another vehicle that was waiting to make a turn onto Menaul Boulevard.

The driver of the second vehicle was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.  No other injuries were reported.

The Albuquerque Police Department's Fatal Crash team is investigating the incident, and said that it does not appear that any of the drivers involved were under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
