WESTFIELD, IN - The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office said at least one person died in a crash in Westfield on Sunday morning, WTHR reports.
The accident happened in the vicinity of U.S. 31 and 161st Street. First responders arrived at the scene at about 7 a.m. to find that a vehicle had collided with the 161st Street overpass. The victim's identity was not immediately released.
All lanes of U.S. 31 northbound were shut down at 161st Street while authorities responded to clear the wreck and conduct an investigation. The closure resulted in traffic backups in the area until the roadway was reopened over four hours later.
