PLAINFIELD, IN - Authorities are investigating after a fleeing driver was involved in a fatal collision in Plainfield on Wednesday morning.
A report by WISH TV states that the incident began when an Avon police officer attempted to stop a vehicle in the area of East Main Street and South Raceway Road at about 9:17 a.m.
Plainfield police said the suspect took off and then crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of U.S. 40 and Ronald Reagan Parkway, causing the other vehicle to catch fire.
One person was killed in the wreck, though it was not clear which vehicle that individual was in. Two people in the second vehicle were injured, and Avon police officers were injured trying to help the crash victims.
The suspect was reported to be in custody. The investigation is being conducted by he Plainfield Police Department, the Brownsburg Police Department, and the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Office.
