Keller & Keller Joins ‘Rake a Difference’ to Support Local Seniors
At Keller & Keller, we dedicate our careers to advocating for those in need, whether it’s seeking justice after an injury or protecting our clients’ rights. But we know that service to our community doesn’t stop in the courtroom. This morning, we took our commitment beyond the office by volunteering for United Way of Southwest Michigan’s annual "Rake a Difference" event—a day dedicated to helping local seniors with fall yard work.
Why We Joined "Rake a Difference"
"Rake a Difference" is one of United Way’s flagship volunteer events, created to connect seniors in Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren counties with teams of volunteers who can assist with yard work. As a Michigan personal injury attorney team, we often meet clients who face physical limitations, especially seniors who may need extra support. The event’s mission resonates with our own commitment to helping those who need a hand, whether it’s navigating the legal system or keeping their yards safe and manageable.
A Morning of Service and Connection
Our team arrived early, bundled up and ready to work. Rakes, gloves, and leaf bags in hand, we joined other volunteers throughout the region in clearing leaves and tidying up outdoor spaces for seniors who could use the assistance. While the day’s work was simple, the impact was clear. Each yard we finished represented a little more peace of mind for its owner and a bit more safety for the season ahead. It was rewarding to connect with the seniors we helped and to see their appreciation firsthand. For us, giving back is about more than just raking leaves—it’s about showing our neighbors that they are valued and cared for.
How Community Service Reflects Our Mission
At Keller & Keller, we’ve built our practice on the idea that everyone deserves someone in their corner. We’re here to advocate fiercely for our clients’ rights, but we also believe in being there for our community in every way we can. Volunteering for "Rake a Difference" allowed us to take that advocacy to a new level, extending our support to seniors who may not have the resources or physical ability to manage seasonal yard maintenance. We view these efforts as an extension of our work, standing up for those who need support and providing a little extra peace of mind.
Encouraging Community Involvement
Our experience with "Rake a Difference" reminded us of the power of collective action. When organizations, businesses, and individual volunteers come together, we can make a significant impact. We’re grateful to United Way of Southwest Michigan for coordinating this effort, and we encourage others to get involved. If you’re looking for ways to contribute, consider joining future events with United Way. Just a few hours of service can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our community’s seniors.
